The Holidays are here and there’s no better time to get all of your gift wrapping supplies organized in order!
I’ve probably changed the way we organize our gift wrapping supplies at least 10 times. There really hasn’t been a good system we have established. The one we have now has been working out the best, although it’s not my favorite. There was this work storage bench the previous owners left in the garage that has two drawers in it. They are wide but not very tall so what can be stored in there is limited.
After our first two systems completely failed, the drawers became a viable option. Before I get into how the system is established now, I will tell you what we previously had and why it didn’t work.
First, we had a vertical gift wrapping paper storage bin where we stored everything including gift bags, boxes, and tissue paper. It was a great place to store everything but it made it really challenging to see what gift bags we really had and would have to take out every single one to see what was available.
Since this was becoming more annoying than anything, I decided to move the gift bags. I saw on Pinterest how you could take magazine holders and use them as gift bag holders, I thought it was genius and decided to give it a try. It worked out well for awhile but then we started getting larger gift bags and they weren’t able to fit in there.
This wasn’t working out and decided it would be best to hang them on a garage wall where we could see them. This system was working out fine until the nails started to bend and they really weren’t able to hold them up well. Sure we could’ve used different nails but the hubby wasn’t too fond of this system so we eliminated it.
I really haven’t been very fond of the vertical gift wrapping storage container because it doesn’t hold extra long wrapping paper. With that in mind, I decided we to completely eliminate the storage container and realized all of the gift wrapping supplies really needed to be in one area.
One of the biggest issues we have is space. We are extremely limited on space and don’t have room for a gift wrapping cart station or the elfa wall system station. Plus I didn’t want to purchase another organizer because there’s not much room. The elfa gift wrap door rack is my dream, it’s going to happen one day 😉
It took a bit of brainstorming to figure out where we could put all of the gift wrapping supplies. I wanted to keep it in the garage because it doesn’t get used that often. Finally came to realize the work bench drawer would be the best option because everything could be in one place and that is where it all is organized.
Here are some key tips when organizing gift supplies:
- Keep It All In One Place. Keep the wrapping paper, gift boxes and bags, and tissue paper all together. This will allow you to easily find what you need. It will also help you figure out what you need.
- Keep Christmas Wrapping Supplies with Christmas Decorations & Storage. We tried to keep this all together in one place but it didn’t work out. Every time I looked at the Christmas wrapping paper in the same area, it threw me off. Plus you only use the Christmas wrapping supplies once a year where as the other gift wrapping supplies gets used throughout the year.
- Establish a good system. Invest in something you’ll really love. Take the time to think about what organizers you like and actually see yourself using. If something you like is a bit out of your budget, figure out a way you can save for it or possibly find it used. I’ve learned the hard way through the years that buying something that was better for the budget but not what I wanted really would cost me more in the end because I would buy new organizers.
